Cruise Control

Sure, Trains, Planes & Automobiles will get you most places, but if you're trolling for something different, consider cruising. The Weather Channel is giving away an 11-night Disney Mediterranean Cruise, which ends in Villefranche, France, known for perfumeries, soap, olive oil, wine, jewelry, and fashionable threads. This tony harbor features the 14th century Chapelle St. Pierre, filled with images painted by poet, artist and filmmaker, Jean Cocteau, who shot Orphée here. (The Rue Obscure was the eerie medieval setting.) Celebrities have visited for decades, including the Rolling Stones, who recorded some of Exile on Main Street here in the 70s, and Anita Pallenberg, who is rumored to have taken refuge in the Italianate Eglise St. Michel when she needed to clear her mind. While Gram Parsons, strolled the cobbled stone streets, music legend Tina Turner called it home. U2's Bono reportedly ate at Carpaccio and Le Cosmo, while Lance Armstrong, William Burroughs, and John Travolta have also been spotted in this charming seaside village. From here, you're only hours away from Paris. Cruise on over and enter.
