Blazing Saddles: Horsing Around in Paris

Hay, if you're into horses there are six racecourses around Paris operated by France Galop: Auteuil, Chantilly, Deauville, Longchamp, Maisons-Laffitte and Saint-Cloud. Auteuil is famous for the Gras Savoye Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris, which features 23 obstacles for the horse and rider to negotiate. Chantilly makes headlines with its two internationally renowned races in June: the Prix du Jockey Club and the Prix de Diane. One of the main flat racing venues in France is Deauville-La Touques, but nestled in the heart of the Bois de Boulogne is the Longchamp racecourse, favored by Parisians. The largest racecourse in the area is Maisons-Laffitte, tucked in a leafy park near the Seine. Prefer a view? Saint-Cloud is set on top of a hill and provides breathtaking panoramas of Paris.

Has all this horsing around got you in the mood for an equestrian feature? Secretariat races into theaters October 8th. Based on a remarkable true story, Secretariat chronicles the spectacular journey of the 1973 Triple Crown winner. To promote this show pony, MovieTickets.com's Winning Sweepstakes Grand Prize is a $4,500 Visa gift card, which ought to cover a race or two in Paris. Saddle up and enter.
