Environment is everything. Yesterday, I visited CSI: NY. The irony? We were shooting on a CBS sound stage in Studio City, California. Yes, Gary Sinise (Who can forget his phenomenal performance in Forrest Gump?) was there, using his meaty skills in a crowded "New York" deli. Eriq La Salle, who played Dr. Peter Benton on ER, was behind the camera, directing. Together (with the clever production designer and the other 100+ hard-working folks who make up the crew), they made you feel like you were back in the Big Apple, instead of the valley.
