Châteaux Style

France is littered with châteaux worth visiting. Four hours outside of Paris, in the north east region of Lorraine, the early 18th century 82-room Baroque Château de Haroué beckons this May. Besides featuring a contemporary art show in conjunction with le Centre Pompidou-Metz, the château will also showcase an unusual exhibition of 40 evening gowns curated by fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy (Yes, he's still alive at 83!). It won't take much to imagine someone wearing these remarkable creations in this historic venue. On display will be stunning haute couture dresses from the French triumvirate: Givenchy, Cristobal Balenciaga, and Philippe Venet. If that long black satin Givenchy number looks familiar that's because Audrey Hepburn wore it in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
