Bedding Down at Hôtel Fouquet's Barrière

Location, location, location is a key consideration when traveling. If you want to call it a night in the Triangle d'Or, consider Hôtel Fouquet's Barrière at the intersection of Avenue Champs Elysées and Avenue George V, where fashion, luxury, and culture meet. Open since 2006 with interiors by Jacques Garcia, this newcomer, comprised of five Haussman-style buildings surrounding a central interior garden and boasting 107 lavish rooms, exudes modern luxury. Relax in the spacious full-service spa, which includes an indoor swimming pool, sauna, and hamman. Or, work off your jetlag in the fitness room. Dine at the celeb fest Le Fouquet's or Le Diane within the hotel, then nestle in for a nightcap at Bar Le Lucien.

Keeping Up With The Kardashians' Conspicuous Consumption In Paris

Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner jetted off to Paris this month for some quality mother-daughter time. After checking into the Ritz, the reality recruits dashed over to the Louvre, where they snapped pix with Mona Lisa. Berthillon is arguably the best ice cream in Paris, but Kim sucked down a waffle cone stuffed with good ol' Ben & Jerry's instead. What would a trip to Paris be without a little shopping spree? Kim dropped almost $100,000 on seven Hermès purses: six $10,000 Birkin bags and one $30,000 crocodile-skin bag (Um, didn't sis, Khloe, shoot a PETA ad?!?). Leave it to Kim to give new meaning to the term "bag lady."

Following in the Kardashians' Louboutins takes bank. Thanks to the subversive folks at Southpark (Remember how they killed off the Kardashian sisters?), you can win $5,000 pimp cash in the Little Bit of Butters Sweepstakes. It won't cover a Birkin, but you could still have a pleasurable plebian Parisian adventure. What would Butters do? You know he'd wipe his sticky fingers on Kim's Chanel dress and enter!

Getting Yven - Yves St. Laurent Retrospective In Paris

From serving in the military for 20 days to a stint in a French mental hospital, followed by numerous fashion shows on Paris runways, designer Yves St. Laurent's life was as dramatic as his clothes. In the 60s, St. Laurent made his mark by creating a classic tuxedo for women, Le Smoking suit. While his Piet Mondrian shifts remain memorable to this day, St. Laurent's extravagant, $100,000 jeweled casual jackets caused a backlash when they debuted days after the stock market crashed in 1987. Loulou de la Falaise, Catherine Deneuve, and a Getty, Talitha, who overdosed on drugs in 1971, were counted among his muses. St. Laurent fought his own demons with alcohol and cocaine, ultimately succumbing to brain cancer in 2008. Now, Le Petit Palais is featuring a retrospective of St. Laurent's creations through August 29th. Spanning 40 years, this dazzling exhibit showcases 307 of his haute couture and ready-to-wear garments, along with photographs, drawings and films. Dress up and see it.

Swiss Premium Tea
is giving away $5,000 for a no-worries vacation. That ought to cover a trip to Paris to see this retrospective with, well, no worries. Stop fretting and enter.

Pompeo's Paris Canteen

The Grey in Grey's Anatomy, Ellen Pompeo, tells Elle Decor she always orders the mash potatoes at Hôtel Costes whenever she visits Paris. This stunning, Italian Baroque style hotel, located in my favorite arrondissement, the Marais, is a people-watching paradise, but it's going to cost you. Even a club sandwich at the bar can set you back about $31. Prefer to see for yourself? Acuvue is giving away $10,000 (awarded as a Visa gift card) in their See Spring Shopping Spree. Change your view and enter.

Le Marais - The Premiere Arrondissement

Arrondissements, or neighborhoods, in Paris are numbered beginning with 1 and rising to 20. They spiral out from the center, like an escargot shell, until the city fades into oblivion, or rather, the infamous banlieues (suburbs). Having spent my Wonder Years in numerous boring bedroom communities, I prefer to be in the heart of the city, particularly the lst arrondissement, known as Le Marais. Named after the marshes that were drained during the 10th century, this historic gem was neglected by urban planners for centuries. As a result, sumptuous hôtels particuliers, or townhouse palaces, continue to thrive, and the streets are frighteningly narrow. Gus Van Sant directed a romantic vignette in Paris Je T'Aime about a guy who falls for a handsome stranger in a print shop in this tony enclave. The Louvre, the Jardin des Tuileries, and the Palais Royal all call Le Marais home, and I wouldn't mind doing the same. Plenty of pricey apartments are available for vacation rentals, especially along the Rue de Richelieu. Reader's Digest is giving away $19,500, which is enough to cover a few months in a charming flat, like the ones you've cooed over in movies. Digest the opportunity and enter.

Intrepid

Brave, courageous, and bold are synonymous with intrepid. All of those characteristics are essential for a life-changing adventure.
